Dr. Li-Jen Kuo, director of the TAMU World Languages Academy, is hiring several project assistants. Both paid and volunteer positions are available for TAMU graduate and undergraduate students as well as community members who are not affiliated with TAMU. 

TAMU graduate students who currently have assistantships are also eligible to apply for the paid positions if they would like to work during semester breaks (up to 20 hours per week during the following semester breaks:12/20/2021 to 1/14/2022; 3/14/2022 - 3/18/2022; 5/16 - 5/27).

Positions Available

• 20 hours/ week graduate assistant with a tuition waiver (only TAMU graduate students are eligible for this position)

• 20 hours/ week project assistant without a tuition waiver

• 10 hours/ week project assistant

• Hourly during semester breaks

• Volunteer, 5 to 10 hours per week

There will be 1 to 3 weekly meetings, which can be scheduled around the assistants’ course schedules. The rest of the work hours are flexible as long as the assistant can complete the weekly tasks.

Hourly Rate for the Paid Positions

• $12 - 21, commensurate with experience

Job Descriptions

The assistants will assist in administrative, teaching, and/or research aspects of the project. 

While most of the work can be completed online and all the meetings will be conducted online, both paid and volunteer research assistants can have an office space in Harrington Tower. 

TAMU students who participate in the projects, either as a paid assistant or a volunteer, will have opportunities to co-author conference presentations and journal articles. Dr. Kuo has extensive experience mentoring students and co-publish with students in high-impact journals.

Required Qualifications

1. Eligible to work in the U.S. for the paid positions;

2. Strong interest in second language acquisition and world language education;

3. Strong writing and oral communication skills in one of the following languages: Chinese, Korean, or English.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Strong writing and oral communication skills in two of the following languages: Chinese, Korean, or English;

2. Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Google Workspace for communication and collaboration; 

3. Prior administrative, teaching, and/ or research experience.
